ADMINISTRATIVE DIVISION - The Administrator is
answerable to the Board of Health for the everyday operation of the Health
Department. In addition, the Division of
Administration is responsible for personnel management, payroll, accounts
payable, accounts receivable, budget preparation, grant application, financial
reports to state and federal agencies, as well as to the County Board, and numerous other general
functions.
LOCAL REGISTRAR - The Administrator of the
Health Department is the Local Registrar for Montgomery County. It is the responsibility of the Local
Registrar to file certificates for all of births and deaths that occur within
the County, with the exception of those that occur within the city limits of
Litchfield. Those certificates are filed
with the City Clerk, who is a Sub-Registrar for Montgomery County. The Local Registrar also files Report of
Death cards, issues burial permits as needed, files Coroner’s Permit to
Cremate, issues Disinternment/Reinterment Permits,
issues certified copies of birth and death certificates, supplies a copy of
each birth and death certificate to the County Clerk, supplies a copy of a
death certificate to any Illinois County Clerk whose resident passed away in
Montgomery County and sends the original certificates to the Division of Vital
Records in Springfield.
