IMMUNIZATION CLINICS - Clinics are available to
immunize children against the childhood diseases. The Health Department has a clinic each month
in Litchfield, Raymond, Nokomis and
SCHOOL HEALTH - In cooperation with school
nurses, the Health Department nurses review physical and immunization
records. They are available as a
resource for other medical problems.
VISION AND HEARING SCREENING
- A
technician employed by the Health Department conducts vision and hearing
screenings. Vision screenings are done
for preschool, kindergarten, grades 2,
4, 6, 8, 10, 12, teacher referrals and special education.
Hearing
screenings are done for preschool, kindergarten, grades 1, 2, 3, teacher
referrals and special education.
Children identified as having possible hearing or vision problems are
referred to medical professionals for further testing and treatment.
DIVISION OF SPECIALIZED CARE
FOR CHILDREN -
Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC) staff are available at the
Health Department the third Thursday of each month for intake and counseling
for children with special needs.
IMMUNIZATIONS - Flu clinics are held during the
months of October and November. Other adult immunizations, including Td and
MMR, are available at Montgomery County Health Department.
FOREIGN TRAVEL - The Division of Nursing
provides information and referrals concerning immunizations for travel to foreign
countries.
DIABETES
CONTROL PROGRAM - Provides education and support group for Diabetics. Supported through
TOBACCO
CONTROL PROGRAM: Provides educational programs
for schools and groups on smoking, its harmful effects, this includes the
Smoke-Free Restaurant Recognition program.
TEEN
PREGNANCY PREVENTION PROGRAM: Provides
information and classes at junior high and high school level on safe practices
and teen pregnancy prevention.

CHRONIC DISEASE SCREENING - Blood pressure screening
clinics are held in 14 different locations monthly. Nurses work with area hospitals to offer
special blood chemistry screenings and health education clinics throughout the
county.
COMMUNICABLE DISEASE, STD’s
and AIDS -
nurses, according to IDPH guidelines investigate these diseases, and reports
are sent to the State. We also provide
education, counseling and are a resource for these programs.
COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING - Nurses visit 1-2 times
monthly as indicated by a physician’s referral and orders. The nurses may monitor medications, vital
signs, injections and other medical needs, including teaching family members
routine bedside nursing procedures.
Nurses help refer patients to other agencies when possible. This
program is partially funded by
Project Life Area Agency on Aging.

BREAST AND CERVICAL CANCER
PROGRAM – The
Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (IBCCP) provides
information, assistance with payment for screenings, and assists with referrals
and follow-ups for breast and cervical cancer.
IBCCP also provides educational material, programs and outreach
activities.
WOMEN’S WELLNESS PROGRAM - Educational programs and
screenings are available through this grant, provided by the IDPH Office of
Women’s Health. In 2001, the grant is for osteoporosis education and referral
to screening.

HEALTH EDUCATION - Educational programs for the
community and schools are done upon request.
These are designed to educate the public on current health topics and
make the public aware of the services of the Department.
ADOLESCENT HEALTH – This grant funded program
assists with health education to local schools. Provides
information on a variety of subjects including puberty, teen pregnancy,
self-esteem, health, safe schools and teacher health education.
DIABETES
CONTROL PROGRAM- This grant works with diabetes, providing educational material,
newsletters and support group. Do not assist with payment of screening, testing
supplies or medication.
TOBACCO
CONTROL PROGRAM- Provides educational assistance to schools and groups on smoking.
Included in this program is Samantha the Magenta Skunk (4 yr-8 yr), The Monster
Cigarette (4th grade- adult), and Make Mine a Fresh Start Family
(WIC/MCH). Smoke-Free Restaurants is also part of this grant.

Diabetes Support Group - A meeting is held the last
Wednesday of each month at the Health Department (the date may change with a
holiday).
