Regional Office of Education for Christian-Montgomery Counties Superintendent Thomas L. Campbell
This Regional Office of Education serves two counties, Montgomery and Christian.
Headed by the Regional Superintendent of Schools, this Office serves as the liaison between local public school systems in Montgomery and Christian counties and the Illinois State Board of Education.
The duties of this office include: - Curriculum Planning/Staff Development and Educational Assessment for School Improvement. - Inservice Training for Support Staff, Teachers and Administrators (including Administrators' Academy) - Technology Systems Development and Upgrading - Career and Technical Education Programs - Teacher Certification/Certificate Renewal - School District Compliance - Assistance with Health/Life Safety issues - GED Testing - Safe Schools Program - Providing Truancy Prevention Services to the Schools - Bus Driver Training - Current Educational Research Materials and Resources - Partnerships with Higher Education, Community Agencies and School Districts - Liaison for Illinois State Board of Education and General Assembly
Assistance is offered through workshops, conferences, on-site visits, dissemination of information, technical assistance and other means.
The Regional Superintendent is elected to a four-year term, in this case, by voters of both Montgomery and Christian counties.
Advisory Board: A group of professional educators and citizen volunteers serves to advise the Regional Superintendent. Members include: Angie Armour, Janis Bitter, Marsha Blackman, Dave Dively, Dave Hixenbaugh, Barb Klinefelter, Tracy Klump, Doris Morehouse, Jamie Powers, Don Reid, Michelle Reiss, and John Steckel.
