County Board Committees Overview
[e-Mail this Article]     [Print this Article]

Montgomery County Board members are designated to serve on various committees to do the initial work of business brought before the board. Committees review proposals, gather information and make recommendations to the full board.

The chairmen and committee members are assigned by the board chairman.

The committees are listed in the following pages with a very brief explanation of their responsibilities as well as the members appointed to serve on them. Also listed is the usual time and meeting place of the committees, most of which meet in the board room on the second floor of the Historic Courthouse.

The minutes of each meeting are kept by County Coordinator. Changes in meeting times, if known on the day of the regular board meeting are announced that day. If meeting times are changed at any other time, the County Clerk is informed of the new time and place. The County Clerk notifies the media of the changes and posts them outside her office in the Historic Courthouse.

As with meetings of the full board, all committee meetings are open to the public.

Following the committee lists is a list of additional assignments made by the board chairman to other entities, in some instances they are required memberships, in others to help the board keep better informed of the issues facing the county.
