County Coordinator
Chris Daniels

The office of County Coordinator was created by the County Board a few years ago to make the operation of the county more efficient. It is an appointed office with the coordinator wearing a number of different hats and being designated with a variety of responsibilities.

The present County Coordinator is Chris Daniels. Among her many duties are the following:

With the County Board, the Coordinator:

- Attends committee meetings to take minutes and give input.

- Takes the minutes at the full County Board meetings.

- Coordinates special projects for the County Board.

- Coordinates special committee meetings and notifies County Clerk of time and place.

As head of the Coordinated Services office, the Coordinator:

- Oversees and promotes the recycling program, including generating more business and revenue. The Coordinator also gives students tours of the recycling facilities to help educate the value of recycling.

For more information about Montgomery County's Recycling Program, location of collection sites, hours, etc. see Montgomery County Recycling. Tied in with the recycling program is the Coordinator's responsibility for oversight of the Solid Waste Program. Montgomery County has an Illinois E.P.A. Delegation Agreement for inspection of solid waste landfills and reports of open dumping in the county. The Coordinator works with the Waste Inspector to complete the proper paper work and keep the state informed of the office's activities.

- Oversees work direction for building and grounds employees, EPA waste inspector, county dog catcher and recycling employees.

- Attends Montgomery County Water Company meetings each month and her office serves as a liaison for customer billing and people who wish to sign up. Phase I has been in service for 1 1/2 years and Phase II will be under construction in 2002 pending funding. The coordinator serves as a go-between for the County Board and other entities like the water company working for the betterment of the county.

- Serves as Enterprise Zone Administrator. She works with new and existing businesses in completing Enterprise Zone packet information and processes tax abatement forms and keeps a summary for quarterly reporting to DCCA.

- Works with communities throughout the county to provide assistance and resources for their economic development.

- Maintains the County Calendar and schedule for the county board room in the Historic Courthouse.

Because the office is something of a catch-all, the Coordinator is also charged with the duty of continuing to identify all county-owned cemeteries and coordinating a program to get abandoned cemeteries cleaned and maintained, using prison crews, volunteers, etc.

The office of County Coordinator Chris Daniels is located on the ground floor (northwest corner) of the Historic Courthouse.
