| Litchfield's Walton Park |
| [e-Mail this Article] [Print this Article] |
Walton Park, on the very south end of State Street in Litchfield, was the home of the first 1905 Chautauqua with plenty of activities, including speeches by William Jennings Bryan and Carrie Nation.
Historic Walton Park in Litchfield celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2006.
Picnic tables, playground areas, horseshoe pits, and a pavilion with a fireplace make this a great place for a family gathering. Lake Litchfield, as it was first known, was filled in 1863 and is still considered a major reservoir by the Department of Conservation. Only canoes, row boats and boats with trolling motors are allowed on Walton Park Lake.
