IMPORTANT 11/4/2008 GENERAL ELECTION DATES - for Montgomery County, Illinois MONDAY, APRIL 7th, 2008: Last day established party managing committee may file a resolution with County Clerk to fill a vacancy in nomination when no county office candidate was nominated at the General Primary Election. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4th, 2008: Last day a person may file a notarized Declaration of Intent to be a write-in candidate with the County Clerk. Write-ins shall be counted only for persons who have filed a Declaration of Intent, and are not filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH, 2008: First day for voters who qualify to make application to the Election Authority, by mail or in person, for an official absentee ballot. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4th, 2008: County Clerk’s Office open for Voter Registration services from 9 AM to 12:00 NOON. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7TH, 2008: Last day for registration or transfer of registration for voters to complete address change or register with all deputy registrars and the County Clerk’s office. (Exception: Grace Period registration.) TUESDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2008-THURSDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2008: In-person Early Voting conducted at County Clerk’s office in Hillsboro during regular business hours M-F 8 AM to 4 PM and Sat. Oct. 21 and Sat. Oct. 28 from 8 AM to NOON each Saturday. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 30TH, 2008: Last day for the Election Authority to receive by mail an application for an absentee ballot, and last day for the election authority to mail such ballot. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1st, 2008: County Clerk’s office open for Absentee Voting from 8 AM to 12 NOON. MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3rd, 2008: Last day registered voters may cast an absentee ballot in person at the County Clerk’s office. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4th, 2008: GENERAL ELECTION, POLLS OPEN 6AM– 7PM THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6th, 2008: VOTER REGISTRATION REOPENS
