There are lots of activities year-round in Montgomery County, from hunting, fishing and boating, to outdoor music festivals, to golfing, enjoying the great outdoors at nature and wildlife preserves, including an Illinois Audubon Society preserve.
There's also plenty for the indoor types who enjoy museums, from community museums in our smaller towns to the Harkey House in Hillsboro to the fun B.R.S. Baseball Museum in Nokomis. And for the person who is doing genealogy work, one of the best resources around will be found in Litchfield's Carnegie Public Library.
If you visit in the summer months there is a town festival almost every weekend, plus a county fair. There are Bluegrass music festivals every year at Lake Hillsboro and summer band concerts from Nokomis to Raymond to Litchfield.
There are several scenic campgrounds and for those whose idea of roughing it is a soft bed, hundreds of motel rooms in Litchfield and Hillsboro.
Just click on an area of interest and we'll give you more details.
